The holiday season is a time of joy and celebration, but for many families in Niagara, the rising cost of living can make it difficult to create a festive meal. That’s where the generosity of our community comes in!
Shelby Tofano, a resident of Wainfleet, has been making Christmas brighter for families in need for the past six years. What started as a small gesture of kindness has grown into an annual tradition that now touches the lives of many.
“About six years ago, my husband and I were reflecting on how lucky we are to have family and the means to celebrate Christmas,” Shelby recalls. “We thought about the challenges we faced in our younger years and how many others may be struggling. That’s when we decided to help by providing Christmas dinners to those in need.”
The first year, Shelby and her husband aimed to serve just three families. But year by year, the requests grew. Last year, over 100 families reached out for help, inspiring Shelby to look for more support to meet the increasing demand. This year, with the help of local businesses and community members, Shelby is working toward a heartwarming goal: Delivering Dinner Kits to 100 families.
How You Can Help
Each Dinner Kit includes everything needed to prepare a traditional Christmas dinner:
- Ham, turkey, or chicken
- Gravy
- Potatoes
- Corn
- Carrots
- Cranberry sauce
- Pineapple
- Fresh rolls
- Stuffing
- Pie
To reach the goal of 100 complete kits, Shelby is asking for contributions from local businesses. Whether it’s donating food items, grocery gift cards, or monetary support, every bit helps spread holiday cheer. No donation is too small!
All donors will be recognized in a letter included with each kit, as well as on social media. It’s a great way to show your business’s community spirit and generosity during the festive season.
